Recycled plastic turns to high-quality raw materials
November 24, 2020“We are committed to innovation to increase the circularity and efficient use of plastic materials” – Repsol.
Repsol Reciclex® is a new material created from plastic waste that is incorporated into virgin resins and which maintain the same qualities, ensuring the material’s consistency and functionality for its final application. With this new range of products, Repsol is expanding their commitment to circular economy by making more sustainable, innovative solutions.
Closing the loop
The process begins with the collection of plastic waste that has reached the end of its useful life and continues with the mechanic recycle, which is a physical process through which plastic is separated and broken down in order to be fed back into new production processes in Rapsols petrochemical complexes. The result is the production of a new plastic material that has the same properties and functionality as the virgin raw material, which are required for its final application in containers, car components, and outdoor furniture, among other uses.
Circular benefits
- It helps to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.
- It promotes the use of recycled products that comply with market requirements.
- Rapsol offer their clients innovative solutions that are more sustainable, opening new markets and commercializing plastic raw materials with recycled materials.
- Rapsol minimize the use of virgin feedstock, enabling them to further bolster their commitment to circular economy and apply it throughout the entire value chain.
There you have it. In Repsol Reciclex® range, they manufacture high-quality raw plastic materials that incorporate a portion of post-consumer plastic that has completed its useful life and otherwise would end up in a landfill.
