Carl celebrates 1 year in the plastics industry

January 21, 2022

Growing up, Carl Waldenström did not see himself working in the plastics industry like his father Magnus and his grandfather Jan. Now a year later we wanted to hear if his image has changed – and what his impression is from the industry.

Hi Carl, what are you doing right now?

– I have just fixed a delivery where the material is to be used in a large car manufacturer’s interior. There are many parts in cars that are made of plastic to get a light and environmentally friendly vehicle, we see constant development in this area.

You’ve been at Mape Plastics for a year now, how does it feel?

– It feels really good, you learn a lot and it’s fun.

How would you describe Mape Plastics as a company?

– A company with great ambitions, where everyone works together as a team. Everyone strives in the same direction and takes responsibility for their area.

What did you learn during the year?

– Business and service thinking. I have entered the world of plastics, as a beginner, and gained an understanding of how big this industry is, as well as the properties and uses of plastics. Today, I see how the material we sell creates sustainability in the future of mobility, becomes vital medical equipment and develops the manufacturing industry in many ways.

– We exist for everyone who manufactures something, and we often have suggestions for the solution for the best end result.

What was most difficult as a newcomer to the plastics industry?

– I did not think it was such a big industry, today I look at plastic with a different point of view and have learned a lot. It’s more complex than you think, but it’s interesting.

What do you do in your everyday work?

– My responsibility is to monitor our order flow and keep in touch with customers so that we can deliver according to their wishes. I help with the purchase of materials and follow the deliveries, something that has been a challenge in the pandemic. There has also been a lack of materials, which has made it more difficult for us to resolve customers’ inquiries.

– There are many balls to keep track of. A lot can happen with deliveries around the world, it is important to predict certain patterns, monitor in real time and have an open dialogue with the customer.
