Polyphenylene sulphide (PPS)

Polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) is an aromatic high temperature semi-crystalline plastic with a glass transition temperature of 85-90 C and a crystalline melting point of 280-290 C. PPS has good creep properties, chemical resistance to a variety of organic and non organic solutions. And it is also flameproof without any additives. The use of PPS in it’s natural form is limited due to the poor mechanical properties. Interference with fiber glass improves mechanical properties dramatically. Most applications are with reinforces glass fiber PPS.

PPS Properties

  • Operating temperature of 220-240 C
  • Good creep properties
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • Exceptionally high rigidity and hardness up to 80 C
  • Flame retardant without any additives
  • Flows better than most other high-temperature plastics
  • Limited impact resistance
  • Limited coloring options
