Polyoxymethylene (POM)
Polyoxymethylene (POM) is one of the most common semi-crystalline structural plastics due to it’s combination of rigidity, toughness and dimensional stability. The regular molecular structure of POM allows it to achieve a crystallinity of 80%, which is higher than any other plastic except PE. POM is found as both homo- and copolymer. The homopolymer has a higher crystallinity which provides better abrasion properties, as well as stiffer and harder. While the copolymer has some better chemical resistance and is easier to process.
